In The Beginning

The best things about delivering babies is the wave of limitless possibilities that enters the world with that little person’s first cry. A baby’s birth is a new beginning for everyone present, and a joy to share even at 2:00 AM. I am privileged to have shared that awesome moment with families for nearly twenty years.

Now I am privileged to share a new beginning of my own. Today I open my own little pottery studio in Latrobe PA and I’m awash in a wave of limitless possibilities.

My four kids planted the seeds for this new adventure years ago. They brought home pots made in school which were absolutely beautiful! It seemed like so much fun to create wonderful things from a lump of clay. But delivering babies and raising four kids does not allow time for craft, so I could only enjoy potting vicariously through them.

Now the kids are out in the world exploring their limitless possibilities, my wife is busy training for her second marathon, and I stopped delivering babies so I sleep through the night. Now there is time for pottery, and what a great time I am having!

I’ll keep you updated on this new beginning. I’ll share the fun and also connect you with new pottery resources as I discover them. Throw some clay on the wheel and pot along with me, or just enjoy the gestation vicariously–either way we will share the craft’s limitless possibilities.

  1. Congratulations on your new endeavors!
I have the privilege of owning some of your early creations and enjoy displaying fruit in my latest bowl. Above all, I appreciate and cherish that it was made by a friend, a neighbor, someone I know. I encourage others to invest in an FD original! Best of luck!
